U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has issued CSMS #17-000084 to publish the Weekly Trade FAQ for February 6.

1. Question: What should I do if I cannot remember my ACE Secure Data Portal account password?

Answer: You can retrieve a forgotten password through the ACE Secure Data Portal Login page. Enter your User ID and select the "Forgot Your Password?” hyperlink, which will prompt you to respond to three of the five challenge questions established during the creation of the account. If you cannot recall the answers to these questions, please contact the ASD to reset your challenge questions and obtain a temporary password. Note, if you are a Proxy Account Owner (PAO), your Account Owner (AO) is able to reactive your account and resend the temporary password retrieval email. Further, if you are an Account User (AU), the AO or PAO may reactive your account and resend the temporary password retrieval email.

2. Question: My account (User ID) is disabled. What should I do to restore my account’s User ID?

Answer: If your User ID is disabled, contact your Account Owner (AO) or Proxy Account Owner (PAO) to have your account reactivated. If the AO or PAO is unavailable, you may also contact the ACE Support Desk at (866) 530-4172.

3. Question: What if my manager or colleague shared their ACE Portal User ID information with me to complete an action and I cannot remember their login information – can the CBP TSD or ASD assist me in obtaining that information?

Answer: No, CBP cannot reactivate, reset or provide any account User ID information to any person that is not the actual owner of the User ID. ACE Portal users are reminded that in the interest of protecting account information, the actual owner of the account should not facilitate the unauthorized use of their User ID (i.e., shared secret) and password. ACE Portal users are advised not to divulge their User ID and password information knowingly and should take the necessary precautions to prevent this information from being accidentally shared.

4. Question: When submitting FDA data, may “UNK” still be used in place of an Intended Use Code (PG01)?

Answer: FDA highly encourages the transmission of complete data, including the correct Intended Use Code and Affirmations of Compliance. UNK should only be used if the correct Intended Use Code cannot be ascertained and needed entry information is not available. For questions, please contact FDA ACE Support at ACE_Support@fda.hhs.gov or 877-345-1101 or 571-620-7320. Please see CSMS #17-000077 for more information.

5. Question: Where can I find information on the Automated Export System (AES) 2017 HTS/B codes?

Answer: The Schedule B, Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS), and HTS Codes that are not valid for AES tables have been updated to accept the changes to the 2017 codes. AES will accept shipments with outdated 2016 codes during a grace period for 30 days beyond the expiration date of December 31st, 2016. Reporting an outdated 2016 code after the 30-day grace period will result in a fatal error.

The ACE AESDirect program has been updated with the 2017 codes and will accept shipments with outdated 2016 codes during the grace period as well.

Please note that revised tables will be posted by the end of the month in line with expected HTS corrections from USITC. An additional AES Broadcast message will be sent when the tables are revised.

The 2017 Schedule B and HTS tables are available for downloading at: http://www.census.gov/foreign-trade/aes/documentlibrary/#concordance

(Note: Although the header indicates 2016, these are the current 2017 Concordance files. The header will soon be updated to reflect 2017.)

The current list of HTS codes that are not valid for AES are available at: http://www.census.gov/foreign-trade/aes/documentlibrary/concordance/hts-not-for-aes.html
